Newforma Debuts Vojo AI Assistant and Hybrid Cloud Strategy at 2026 Event

Newforma unveiled Vojo AI assistant and expanded ecosystem integrations at Newforma World 2026, maintaining hybrid deployment options while advancing workflow automation for AECO firms.

The project management software company Newforma announced a suite of artificial intelligence innovations and ecosystem partnerships during its annual Newforma World 2026 event in Clearwater, Florida. The May 7, 2026 press release details a technology roadmap centered on workflow automation, connected project delivery, and what executives describe as a "cloud-first, not cloud-forced" deployment philosophy.

At the core of the announcement is Vojo, a new AI assistant built on an agent-driven framework. According to the official press release, Vojo includes natural language search across project data, AI-powered analysis for BIM models and documents, and AI-assisted submittal review workflows. The platform is designed to embed intelligence directly into day-to-day project management operations rather than functioning as a separate tool.

One of the first workflow capabilities tied to Vojo is Smart Email Filing. This feature automatically associates emails with projects and recommends filing locations for RFIs, submittals, and action items. The company stated the tool aims to help firms maintain more complete and defensible project records while reducing manual administrative work. For construction teams drowning in inbox clutter, this represents a tangible reduction in the friction of logging communications (a problem that has plagued project managers for years, frankly).

The AI initiatives are supported through a strategic collaboration with Amazon Web Services. AWS provides the infrastructure powering Newforma's advanced AI development efforts. Ben Schreiner, head of AI and modern data strategy business development at Amazon Web Services, noted that "AI is only as powerful as the data it's built on." He added that Newforma's approach combines secure, scalable AWS infrastructure with an agent-driven AI framework to help AECO teams surface insights and reduce manual effort.

Carl Veillette, chief product officer at Newforma, emphasized the company's hybrid deployment strategy during the event. "Customers choose when and how they modernize. We decided not to be cloud-only, and it's by design," Veillette said. "Everything we build must either lower risk, save time or unlock scale." This positions Newforma differently from competitors pushing mandatory cloud migration, allowing firms to continue supporting both on-premises and cloud-based environments.

Independent coverage from Construction Owners Club corroborates the timeline and scope of the announcements. The outlet reported that the company reaffirmed its investment in hybrid modernization, with continued support for Newforma Project Center as part of long-term project management and cloud transition strategies.

Newforma also announced several new integrations intended to create a more connected technology ecosystem. The updates include a new integration between Bluebeam and Newforma Konekt, a partnership with Egnyte, a Microsoft Teams integration focused on preserving defensible communication records, and a new connector with OFCDESK for Autodesk Build workflows. Company leaders said the strategy is intended to give customers greater flexibility while minimizing disruption to existing project delivery processes.

In addition to new integrations, Newforma introduced a simplified modular licensing structure that allows firms to align software purchases with specific user roles and operational needs. The company also announced a new FedRAMP Moderate initiative and ongoing efforts to meet advanced compliance requirements. These compliance efforts matter for government projects where security clearance is non-negotiable.

The physical reality of using these tools involves less clicking and more decision-making. Instead of manually navigating through nested folders to find a submittal, users can query project data in natural language. The Smart Email Filing feature means emails land in the right place without dragging and dropping. It's not magic, but it does eliminate the tedious work of categorizing every message that crosses a project manager's desk.

Founded more than 20 years ago, Newforma provides project and information management software for the AECO industry and says its platforms support more than 20 million projects globally. The company claims to be trusted by over 4.5 million users and 1,500 firms. Whether these new AI capabilities translate into measurable productivity gains remains to be seen in real-world deployments.

Veillette summarized the vision: "We're building a world where project information is more connected, where the tools teams rely on work better together, and where users can move faster because they see more, sooner, with less friction." The question for AECO firms is whether the licensing costs and implementation effort will deliver proportional value. Time will tell if the AI actually reduces friction or just adds another layer of complexity to manage.
