Huawei Unveils WATCH FIT 5 Series and Ultimate Design Spring Edition in Bangkok

By Artūras Malašauskas May 08, 2026 4 min read Share:
Huawei's Bangkok launch introduces a new fitness-focused smartwatch lineup alongside a luxury diamond-encrusted wearable, signaling a dual strategy targeting both mass-market and premium segments.

Huawei held its "Now Is Your Spark" global product launch in Bangkok, revealing two distinct wearable categories that bookend the company's strategy: the accessible WATCH FIT 5 Series and the opulent WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN Spring Edition. The event underscores Huawei's attempt to dominate both the fitness tracker market and the luxury smartwatch space simultaneously.

The WATCH FIT 5 Series maintains Huawei's signature square smartwatch silhouette but introduces material upgrades that matter when you're actually wearing the device. The standard model ships in Silver, Purple, White, Black, and Green, while the Pro variant arrives in Orange, White, and Black with a sportier aesthetic. The Pro version incorporates an oil-filling technique for richer colour depth, and the White edition uses Aerospace-Grade Nanoceramic Metal for a more premium finish.

Display specifications show meaningful differentiation between the two models. The standard Watch Fit 5 gets a 1.82-inch AMOLED display, while the Pro version increases that to 1.92 inches with sapphire glass, slimmer bezels, and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. That brightness level matters when you're checking notifications outdoors in direct sunlight (a scenario where most budget watches become useless). The Pro model also uses titanium alloy construction on select versions.

Health monitoring capabilities have expanded significantly. The Pro model includes pulse wave-based A-fib alerts, ECG monitoring, arterial stiffness detection, and Huawei's newly introduced Diabetes Risk Study feature. Both models feature improved sleep tracking and women's health management with temperature sensors that track wrist temperature trends to predict period and ovulation days. These additions reinforce the growing role of smart wearables as daily health management companions rather than simple fitness trackers.

Huawei is also embracing the trend of lighter, more accessible fitness routines with a new "Mini-Workout" watch face. The feature encourages users to complete short guided exercises throughout the day, assisted by a panda-themed virtual companion that delivers motivational prompts based on activity habits. Completing workouts unlocks themed watch faces inspired by iconic cities and global landmarks, adding a gamified layer to the overall experience. It's essentially candy for your wrist, but apparently effective.

Outdoor fitness features have been expanded as well. Cyclists can now see virtual power and cadence metrics in real time, while the Pro model adds trail running navigation and golf support with access to more than 17,000 courses globally. Battery life remains competitive, with the company claiming up to 10 days under lighter usage conditions and around a week with more regular use. Both watches support Android and iOS.

The WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN Spring Edition represents a completely different market segment. Developed in collaboration with jewellery designer Francesca Amfitheatrof, the smartwatch features 99 natural diamonds alongside diamond-cut sapphire glass. The design draws inspiration from springtime themes, with the Fibonacci sequence influencing the vine motif strap and crown details.

Despite the luxury focus, the Spring Edition retains core smartwatch functionality. The watch supports ECG monitoring, respiratory tracking, eSIM calling, NFC payments, and diving support up to 40 meters. Battery life reaches up to 3 days in standard mode with Always-On Display, or up to 7 days in Battery Saver mode. The watch works seamlessly with both iOS and Android devices.

Independent reporting from Gizmochina confirms pricing and availability details. The standard Watch Fit 5 is priced at £159.99, and the Watch Fit 5 Pro costs £249.99. The luxury-focused WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN Spring Edition will go on sale from May 7 through the Huawei Store, priced at £3,499.99. Huawei is also bundling launch offers until June 21, including a £30 discount coupon, a free watch strap, and a Huawei Scale 3 with purchase.

The pricing gap between the two product lines is stark—roughly 22 times more expensive for the Spring Edition. This isn't just about materials; it's about positioning. The FIT 5 targets fitness enthusiasts who want reliable health tracking without breaking the bank. The Ultimate Design targets luxury buyers who want smartwatch functionality wrapped in high jewellery aesthetics.

Regional availability varies. The WATCH FIT 5 Series will be arriving in the Malaysian market soon through Huawei Experience Stores, the official website, and major e-commerce platforms including Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop. Other markets should follow similar distribution patterns, though specific dates remain unconfirmed outside the UK and Southeast Asia.

Whether users actually pay £3,500 for a diamond-encrusted smartwatch remains the real question. The technology inside is identical to cheaper Huawei models—the value proposition rests entirely on craftsmanship and brand cachet. For the FIT 5 Series, the value equation is more straightforward: solid health features, decent battery life, and a price point that competes directly with Apple and Samsung offerings.

The real test comes in execution. Can Huawei maintain software support and feature updates across this diverse product range? Will the Mini-Workout gamification actually change user behaviour, or will it become another abandoned feature after a few weeks? Time will tell, but the hardware specifications suggest Huawei is serious about competing on both ends of the wearable market.
